The Club des Jeunes Négociants Champenois (club for young Champagne merchants) was established in 1996, spearheaded by a group of young directors of Champagne Houses in a bid to share their new ideas and submit them for the consideration of more experienced colleagues in charge of professional and collaborative oversight.
The club organises meetings between young Heads of House, Directors and executives of Champagne Houses, providing a convivial forum for meaningful debate in a highly competitive industry — a networking session where participants can exchange ideas on subjects related to their professional activities (economy, technology, culture).
Meetings are held several times a year, attended by some 40 participants representing some 20 Champagne Houses. By encouraging innovative thinking, the Club des Jeunes Négociants Champenois helps to keep the industry at the top of its game.

Bringing a convivial atmosphere to professional gatherings is the priority for the Club des Jeunes Négociants Champenois. Established in 1996, the club was spearheaded by a group of young directors of Champagne Houses in a bid to share their new ideas and submit them for the consideration of more experienced colleagues in charge of professional and collaborative oversight. The club’s first president was Hubert de Billy who remained in office until 1998. To be elegible for membership applicants must hold executive positions within a Champagne House, be under 40 years of age and be sponsored by a club member. The club organises meetings between young Heads of House, Directors and executives of Champagne Houses, providing a convivial forum for meaningful debate in a highly competitive industry — a networking session where participants can exchange ideas on subjects related to their professional activities (economy, technology, culture). "We organise four evening events a year including three held on Champagne House premises. Other activities include a visit to a vineyard in July," explains the club’s newly elected president Édouard Cossy. Edouard works at Champagne Laurent-Perrier, in Tours-sur-Marne, and replaces outgoing president Philippe Rivet who has just left Champagne Deutz to take up a new position as Marketing and Export Director for the Union Champagne Cooperative in Avize.
Some 40 participants representing about 20 Champagne Houses gather for meetings several times a year."It’s a good way to keep in touch and exchange ideas with colleagues from outside your own area. Some of us work in export, others on the technical side or in winemaking — together we span every aspect of production from vine to wine." Membership of the club is also a good way to become accepted in Champagne "when you’re not a PPC ( un pur produit champenois or ’Champagne Born and Bred). It also helps to promote the unique savoir faire that lies at the heart of Champagne production. "We like to think of ourselves first and foremost as Champagne brand ambassadors."
